$110M Deal Shakes Up Indian Creek Island — But the Buyer Isn’t Bezos
June 6, 2025When a prime waterfront parcel on Miami’s ultra-exclusive Indian Creek Island hit the market for $200 million last year, many assumed Jeff Bezos would be the one to claim it. The site borders two of the Amazon founder’s estates, making him the most likely buyer in the eyes of local agents.
But in a surprising twist, an international finance executive is under contract to purchase the 2-acre lot for $110 million. The sale is expected to close in mid-June, according to luxury homebuilder Manny Angelo Varas, who designed a 25,000-square-foot mansion for the site. Varas confirmed that Bezos had been approached about the deal but ultimately passed.
The property was first listed in late 2024 and underwent several price cuts, most recently asking $130 million. The current seller, whose identity remains undisclosed, bought the land for $27.5 million in 2018 using a limited liability company.
Meanwhile, Bezos has quietly built a real estate portfolio on Indian Creek, acquiring three properties since mid-2023 for a combined $234 million. His presence, along with other high-profile residents like Tom Brady, Carl Icahn, and Ivanka Trump, has further reinforced the island’s nickname: the “Billionaire’s Bunker.”
Neither Bezos nor the listing agent commented on the transaction.
