Aventura Mall is scheduled to add a three-level expansion wing, which will include new retail stores and restaurants, contemporary art and a VIP lounge in late 2017.
The new 315,000-square-foot expansion wing on the eastside of the property combines an indoor and outdoor experience for its guests, providing them with a delightful shopping and dining experience mixed with aesthetically pleasing elements, including a 93-foot tall sculpture by renowned Belgian sculptor Carsten Holler that visitors will be able to slide down.
Turnberry Construction and Plaza Construction are in charge of completing the wing, adding a two-level Topshop Topman store, marking the British brand’s arrival in Miami, and a 7,000-square-foot VIP lounge on its rooftop. The lounge will lend visitors the opportunity to play billiards, watch TV, and enjoy the dining and bar areas and conference rooms for private events.
Turnberry currently owns 66 percent of Aventura Mall, which sits at 19501 Biscayne Boulevard, and is anchored by Bloomingdale’s, Nordstrom and Macy’s.
The project has been in the process of completion for more than a year, while the owners have, since January 2016, closed on $213.5 million in financing the additional wing.
The mall, which already hosts more than 300 stores, including designer stores like Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Cartier and Fendi, will use the new wing to introduce 12 in-line restaurants and three kiosks, according to what Jackie Soffer, co-chair and CEO of Turnberry Associates, told the press.
“A lot of these tenants that are leasing we’ve been wanting to put in the property for years, but didn’t have the square footage,” she told the press. “Now we’re able to fit everyone in.”
