Dutch Magnetics Heir Sells Indian Creek Village Estate for $64.5 Million
May 17, 2024Geert-Jan Bakker, heir to the Dutch magnetic product company Bakker Magnetics, has sold his waterfront estate in Indian Creek Village for $64.5 million in an off-market transaction. This high-profile sale adds to the trend of eight-figure home deals on the exclusive island.
Interestingly, records indicate that Bakker and his wife, Joyce, sold the property at 40 Indian Creek Island Road to 40 ICIR, a Wyoming LLC managed by Capital Administrations. The identity of the actual buyer, however, remains shrouded in mystery, adding an element of intrigue to this high-profile transaction.
This sale follows billionaire Jeff Bezos’ recent acquisition spree on Indian Creek Island, which included three estates totaling $237 million, the latest of which closed in April.
Bakker Magnetics, founded by Bakker’s parents, specializes in magnetic products for recycling and bulk handling food and pharmaceuticals. In 2010, Bakker purchased the 1.2-acre estate for $9.3 million. The property, built in 1991, features a 7,500-square-foot house with seven bedrooms, eight bathrooms, two half-bathrooms, a pool, and a dock.
The estate is between notable neighbors Martin and Constance Silver at 41 Indian Creek Island Road and Alicia Ziegert at 39 Indian Creek Island Road. Martin Silver, the founder of Life Resources (now part of the U.K.’s Bio Products Laboratory), is a significant donor, having contributed $50 million to New York University’s School of Social Work in 2007. Ziegert is married to Miami-based developer Franco D’Agostino.
Indian Creek Island, a haven for the rich and famous, boasts a roster of notable residents including Tom Brady, Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, and DJ David Guetta, who made headlines with his $69 million compound purchase in August. This sale by Geert-Jan Bakker only adds to the island’s allure and exclusivity.
