Excavation Permit Issued for Baccarat Residences Site in Miami’s Financial District
September 24, 2023Miami’s Building Department has officially granted a site work permit for the Baccarat Residences development site in the bustling Brickell district. Notably, this site has been the focus of excavation efforts to uncover prehistoric artifacts.
The recently issued permit covers excavation, piles, and site and soil improvement activities, estimated at $1.5 million. It’s worth noting that last year, the site attracted the attention of approximately 150 archaeologists who were diligently working on-site.
Records indicate that the city’s Historical & Environmental Preservation reviewer approved the site work plans on September 12, following three rounds of corrections. Subsequently, on September 18, the Building Department granted the permit after receiving approvals from all other relevant parties. The permit application process commenced in April, taking approximately five months for support.
The contractor overseeing this project is John Moriarty.
The ambitious Baccarat tower is set to soar to 848 feet above ground level or 852 feet above sea level, making it taller than any existing condo tower in Miami.
While the permit for the vertical construction of the Baccarat Tower is still in the approval process, it represents a significant milestone for this high-profile development.
Adjacent to the Baccarat site, construction is already underway for another 44-story tower, which will feature 506 apartments.
In related news, Keith Menin announced plans to convert specific units within the Baccarat Tower into hotel accommodations in response to sustained demand for condos within the building. This venture draws inspiration from the Gale Hotel in Miami Beach and the Gale Hotel in Fort Lauderdale, both associated with the Galbut family.
