Major Indian Creek Lot Sale Raises Eyebrows

An Indian Creek lot sale closed for $105 million, grabbing attention in South Florida’s ultra-luxury market. The 1.8-acre waterfront property at 9 Indian Creek Island Road sits next to Jeff Bezos’ estate. Originally listed at $200 million, the property sold for nearly 50% less.

Jeff Bezos Connection to the Indian Creek Lot Sale

The property was sold by Mikhail and Mariana Peleg through SMM Sunny Holding LLC. The buyer? A trust managed by Joe Hernandez, an attorney with the law firm Bilzin Sumberg. While the buyer has not been publicly confirmed, several details hint at Jeff Bezos’ involvement.

The Wall Street Journal reported that an international finance executive bought the lot and hired Manny Varas of MV Group to build a mansion. The buyer used real estate agent Celine Klepach, the same agent who represented Bezos in another nearby purchase.

Klepach is the daughter of Indian Creek’s Mayor Benny Klepach, who allegedly acted as a straw buyer in Bezos’ earlier $79 million purchase of 12 Indian Creek. That deal led to a lawsuit against Douglas Elliman, the brokerage previously representing the seller.

Bezos Expands His Indian Creek Empire

If Bezos is behind this Indian Creek lot sale, it brings his total holdings to four properties on the island. These include:

• 11 Indian Creek Island Road – $68 million (2023)

• 12 Indian Creek Island Road – $79 million

• 28 Indian Creek Island Road – $87 million

• 9 Indian Creek Island Road – $105 million (latest)

Together, these lots give Bezos more than 8 acres of waterfront land on one of the most exclusive islands in the country. According to sources cited by The Real Deal, Bezos plans to build a massive estate spanning multiple parcels.
