Jeff Bezos Acquires $79M Indian Creek Neighboring Estate Following $68M Summer Purchase

Billionaire Jeff Bezos has made another extravagant real estate acquisition, this time by clicking the “add to cart” button on a stunning waterfront estate in Indian Creek Village, spending a jaw-dropping $79 million. This purchase comes on the heels of his $68 million acquisition of a neighboring property earlier this summer.
Bezos, with a net worth exceeding $155 billion according to Forbes, secured the nearly 2-acre estate located at 12 Indian Creek Island Road, as reported by sources and confirmed by Bloomberg. The transaction for this opulent 19,000-square-foot mansion boasting seven bedrooms was finalized on Thursday, a detail approved by the Multiple Listing Service.
Representing the seller, Indian Creek #1 LLC, was Dina Goldentayer and Danilo Tavares of Douglas Elliman, as indicated by both the property records and the listing. Although they refrained from offering comments on the deal, it’s noteworthy that these agents also acted on behalf of the buyer.
With this latest purchase, Bezos commands an impressive 4.6 acres of continuous waterfront land on the island. His acquisition of 11 Indian Creek Island Drive in June, combined with this recent transaction, amasses a staggering $147 million.
Situated in Indian Creek, a secure, guard-gated island located north of Miami Beach, the neighborhood’s streets are exclusively accessible to residents and their guests. Bezos’ new neighbors in this exclusive enclave include billionaire luminaries such as Carl Icahn, hedge fund magnate Eddie Lampert, sports legend Tom Brady, political figures Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, and iconic singer-songwriter Julio Iglesias.
The mansion at 12 Indian Creek Island Road, initially listed by Goldentayer for $85 million in May, offers a wealth of amenities, including a home theater, wine cellar, cabana, pool, and a staggering 200 feet of bay frontage. This lavish estate, constructed in 2000, is a true gem in the region.
Public records reveal that Indian Creek #1 LLC acquired the property in 2014 for $28 million, and the entity’s registered agent is listed as Leo Kryss, a co-founder of the Brazilian electronics and toy company Tectoy, according to a mortgage recorded in 2020.
It’s also worth noting that Bezos and his fiancée Lauren Sánchez, a former news anchor and pilot, had been actively searching for a new or renovated mansion in the Miami area, a quest previously hinted at by sources. Bezos’ connection to South Florida spans decades, having graduated from Miami Palmetto Senior High School in 1982.
In a remarkable show of real estate interest within the region, Bezos’ parents, Mike and Jackie Bezos, they acquired two waterfront homes in Coral Gables for $78 million last year.
While Bezos holds the title of the wealthiest individual to make property investments in Miami-Dade this year, he’s not the only billionaire making waves in the Miami real estate market. Billionaire hedge fund manager Ken Griffin recently added another estate on Miami Beach’s Star Island to his portfolio, amassing nearly 6.5 continuous waterfront acres.
Former Google chairman and CEO Eric Schmidt and his wife, Wendy, also joined the billionaire real estate spree, recently purchasing two adjacent houses on the Sunset Islands in Miami Beach for $63 million. Their fascination with these islands dates back to 2020, with a property investment totaling more than $100 million over the past three years, as confirmed by property records and reliable sources.
