Boosting Convention Travel in Miami Beach

A major Miami Beach convention center hotel is now under construction. The $600 million project is led by Terra Group and Turnberry Associates. It will add 800 guest rooms, 100,000 square feet of event space, and a skybridge that connects directly to the convention center.

Vertical construction began in May 2025 at 17th Street and Convention Center Drive, right next to the 1.4-million-square-foot Miami Beach Convention Center. The project aims to reshape the hospitality landscape and support the city’s growing convention industry.

More about the convention center

Business-Ready Features for Modern Travelers

The 17-story tower will include 800 rooms, featuring 52 suites with ocean and city views. Guests can enjoy a resort-style pool deck, a Grand Hyatt club lounge, and a fully equipped fitness center.

Moreover, five food and beverage venues will activate the property, including a pre-leased signature restaurant. Street-level retail will also engage pedestrians and bring new life to the surrounding blocks.

For meetings and events, the hotel offers 90,000 square feet of indoor space and 10,000 square feet outdoors. The design includes four floors of dedicated event space. Thanks to the climate-controlled skybridge, attendees will have seamless access to the adjacent convention center.

Financing and Public Investment

This convention hotel benefits from a $392 million construction loan from TYKO Capital, arranged by Eastdil Secured and backed by Elliott Investment Management. In addition, the Miami Beach Redevelopment Agency approved a $75 million public grant in 2024. The city’s voters had already supported the development in a 2018 referendum.

Economic Growth and Market Momentum

Hotel performance metrics in Miami Beach continue to rise. Occupancy is up 3.4% year-over-year, and RevPAR climbed 8.4%. This hotel responds to rising demand for high-capacity accommodations near the convention center.

The construction phase will create over 500 jobs, while the completed hotel will support year-round hospitality employment. Additionally, the project will boost local tourism spending and increase tax revenues.

A Catalyst for Miami Beach’s Convention District

Designed by Arquitectonica and architect Bernardo Fort-Brescia, the tower blends modern architecture with functional space. Its direct link to the convention center strengthens Miami Beach’s position as a leading destination for large-scale events.

With strong public-private funding, premium amenities, and smart design, this Miami Beach convention center hotel is set to anchor future hospitality and tourism development.
