Open doors: Brickell City Centre set to transform downtown Miami

The first phase of the 10 acre, $1.05 billion mixed-use Brickell Citi Center development officially debuted after almost 4 years of construction. The downtown area has transformed with the development of the landmark project and is a fashion, dining, and entertainment destination that include 352 guest-rooms in EAST, Miami hotel, and two condominium towers – Reach and Rise, which has 780 premium luxury residences. The project offers business workspaces totaling 260,000 square feet, and is anchored by a 500,000-square-foot open-air luxury shopping center with an innovative thousand-foot $30 million glass-and-steel climate ribbon spanning almost three city blocks.

The massive mall’s retail space spans four levels, and while 50 shops were open by the middle of November, many more will arrive in December since the retail space is 91 percent leased. Retailers such as Saks, have either opened or were near opening out of a planned 120 stores, including Cole Haan, Pandora, Victoria’s Secret and Sephora. The first level features luxury stores such as Armani Collezioni, Chopard and Kiton, with premium and contemporary retailers on the second and third floors.  Phase II of the development is scheduled to start in late 2017. Developers, Swire Properties Inc, says the residential towers are popular among US and international buyers, with prices starting from $595,000 to $2.7 million. The development also features a 36,000 luxury state-of-the-art dine-in movie theater from Mexico City-based Cinemex and offers 700 underground parking spaces and also connects to Miami’s free Metromover.
