According to the official figures published by Visit Orlando (Orlando’s Official Tourism Association), the city registered 72 million tourists in 2017, the first market to pass 70 million visitors in one year. While in 2015, the numbers of visitors were 66 million, and 68 million in 2016.
The increase was due to the growth in domestic visitors, people from other states that chose to spend holidays with their families in Orlando. Domestic travelers make up about 90 percent of Orlando’s visitors, while the number of international visitors remained stable. With these numbers, Orlando maintained its title as the most visited destination in the United States.
By 2017, Orlando International Airport has become the busiest airport in the country and it’s easy to understand why. The city’s financial numbers, employment generation rates, and economic stability have already indicated this growth, and after the official release of figures, areas that live especially on tourism has much to celebrate, as this growth does not stop there.
The trend in 2018 is expected to be even more significant due to the new investments and attractions being created in the city. The constant expansion of infrastructure involving airports, a train link between Miami and Orlando, and Universal’s plans to develop a theme park, restaurants, new attractions for its visitors, among others.
