In November, contractors will receive an invitation to start bidding for construction. Groundbreaking is scheduled for the second quarter of 2019, according to Morales.
The park should be ready by the fall of next year, prioritizing Design Miami, a furniture show held in December; the park was designed with more open space and fewer trees to accommodate the annual event. The fair has paid $107,000 for rent to the city to lease the area for two months in 2017.
