Record-Breaking Sale: Ex-Hotelier Offloads Indian Creek Mansion for an Astonishing $68 Million

July 7, 2023

In an unprecedented off-market transaction, Tulia Soucy de Gonzalez Gorrondona, a renowned former hotelier, has successfully sold her luxurious waterfront estate in Indian Creek for a staggering $68 million. The property, situated at 11 Indian Creek Island Road, was acquired by the Palm Trust, represented by esteemed Houston-based attorney Terri Lacy as the trustee. However, the identity of the ultimate buyer remains undisclosed.

Gorrondona, who previously spearheaded the esteemed Concorde Organization, a prominent hotel ownership and operation entity, has solid familial ties to Ines Centeno de Gonzalez Gorrondona and José Joaquin Gonzalez Gorrondona, a highly regarded Venezuelan banker and economist of the 20th century, as per corporate records uncovered by Steemit.

Historical records reveal that the Panama Capital & Investment Corporation initially purchased the picturesque 2.8-acre waterfront estate for a mere $1.4 million in 1982. However, the property was later transferred to Gorrondona’s MTM Star International in 2016, with Ruth Giannina de Sanchez as vice president. Spanning an impressive 9,300 square feet, the mansion, originally built in 1965 and expanded in 1985, boasts three bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a beautiful pool, as indicated by property records.

This groundbreaking sale shatters the previous price record on the island, set in 2019 when a waterfront estate changed hands for $49.9 million. Indian Creek, often called the “Billionaire Bunker,” is a highly sought-after private island sanctuary favored by the ultra-wealthy. Its exclusive community has attracted notable residents like Tom Brady, Jeffrey Soffer, Jared Kushner, and Ivanka Trump.

Kushner and Trump invested $24 million in a magnificent 8,500-square-foot waterfront mansion on Indian Creek in 2021. As their island property undergoes renovations, the couple resides in a condo at the oceanfront Arte Surfside.

Last year, billionaire Colombian banker Jaime Gilinski made headlines with his $40 million acquisition of supermodel Adriana Lima’s estate on Indian Creek. With this latest purchase, Gilinski’s portfolio on the island now encompasses an impressive five contiguous properties.
