The brand new and very futuristic company headquarters is now fully open for business. Telemundo is a Comcast owned Spanish network division. They revealed the new three-story, 500,000 square-foot headquarters during an opening ceremony in Miami – only 2 years after the announcement of its construction plans in February 2016.
Telemundo invested over $250 million to build the new custom facility. The building sits on 21 acres and has 15 highly adaptive studios. The location also has two digital studies and virtual and augmented reality studios. The largest building on the property will be home to Telemundo Network, Telemundo Studios, Telemundo Deportes, Noticias Telemundo, Universo cable Channel, Telemundo International and digital operations.
The new facility is eco-friendly and can sustain up to a category 5 hurricane and continue to operate during weather and environmental emergencies.
“There’s nothing like it in the United States,” explained César Conde, Chairman, NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises and NBCUniversal International Group. “Telemundo Center was really based on the aspiration that we had to make this the center of the Hispanic world. We wanted to create the workplace of the future, the workplace that the future generations of this industry were going to be able to thrive in.”
During the past 30 years, the Telemundo headquarters has been located in an older building in Hialeah, Florida. As the company continued to grow, Telemundo leased other properties to run its other divisions. Now, under the new headquarter location, the previously scattered divisions like Telemundo International, Universo, and Telemundo Studios, are at the same location and will allow for easier collaboration.
The Telemundo Center is also home to the newly released Telemundo Academy. Which is a multimedia educational institution that partners with high schools and universities to empower and coach the next generation of leaders in the media world. Pitbull, also known as Armando Christian Perez, singer, actor and record producer, is one of the academy’s first partners.
