Terra and GFO Investments Deliver Five Park Miami Beach, the Tallest Tower in the City

December 1, 2024

In 2020, developers David Martin and Russell Galbut began envisioning an ambitious project at the gateway to Miami Beach. Guided by Terra’s principles of sustainability and thoughtful design, their vision was clear: to create Miami Beach’s tallest tower, complete with luxury residences, world-class amenities, and a public park that would address both environmental and community needs. Today, that vision is realized in Five Park Miami Beach, the city’s first new luxury residential tower in over a decade. This innovative project elevates Miami Beach’s skyline while enhancing its green spaces, blending urban sophistication with ecological mindfulness.

Originally conceived as a structure spanning six to seven acres, the plan evolved to dedicate just two acres to the tower, leaving the remaining land for green space. This included the creation of Canopy Park, a three-acre public green space donated by the developers to secure additional height for the tower. Now a vibrant community hub, the park underscores the project’s dedication to balancing development with public benefit.

Towering 48 stories at the entrance to South Beach, Five Park stands as Miami Beach’s tallest building and a landmark gateway to the city. The project reflects the expertise of seasoned developers and visionaries, setting a new standard for luxury and urban design.

Five Park represents our dedication to crafting iconic developments that enhance urban living and fulfill a city’s potential,” said David Martin, CEO of Terra. “This tower offers exceptional design and amenities and integrates seamlessly with Miami Beach’s cultural identity and resilience goals.”

A team of world-renowned architects, designers, and tastemakers collaborated on Five Park, creating a residential experience that is as striking as it is functional. Arquitectonica led the architectural design, while Gabellini Sheppard shaped the interiors. Anda Andrei, known for her work on iconic projects like the Delano South Beach and Gramercy Park Hotel, brought her design expertise to the project. Sarah Harrelson of Cultured Magazine oversaw art curation. At the same time, French conceptual artist Daniel Buren contributed to the design of the Canopy Bridge, an iconic structure linking Five Park to the South of Fifth.

“The design embodies Miami Beach’s vibrant spirit, merging hospitality and residential elements to craft an unparalleled lifestyle,” said Anda Andrei, design director of Five Park. “From private resident amenities to a beautifully landscaped deck, every detail is meant to surprise and delight.”

Completed in 2022, Canopy Park acts as Miami Beach’s “green lung,” incorporating ecological resilience into its design. Features include a botanical garden, an interactive playground, a dog park, and an event lawn. The park’s innovative systems—such as stormwater management topography, a bioswale system for filtering rainwater, and a 25,000-gallon irrigation cistern—underscore its commitment to sustainability. Native plants and salt-tolerant grasses further promote biodiversity and habitat restoration.

Construction begins this month on the Daniel Buren-designed Canopy Bridge. The 158-foot-long enclosed pedestrian bridge will link Five Park to the South of Fifth neighborhood, enhancing connectivity and solidifying the development’s role as a catalyst for community growth and environmental stewardship.
