The James Bond of luxury condos: Aston Martin set its sights and sails on Miami

November 3, 2016

Miami has become a hotspot for new luxury condo developments from top brands such as Fendi, Armani, Missoni, Porsche, and now, British high-end sports car maker, Aston Martin, which was featured prominently in the James Bond feature film “Goldfinger.”  The Aston Martin Residences will launch on the last parcel of undeveloped land in downtown Miami on the former Epic East site at the Miami River. In the announcement of the project, Katia Bassi, managing director of Aston Martin brands, stated that Aston Martin entering into the real estate has been a priority but they wanted to do it the right way.  “We are not everywhere for a reason,” she explained.

The is the luxury brands first entry into real estate. Aston Martin EVP and Chief Creative Officer Marek Reichman, at a press conference stated, “Miami is a lively, fun place that possesses the same qualities. We have a fabulous location. This is probably one of the best locations left in the world to develop.”  The arrival of over the top, one-of-a-kind luxury developments by fashion houses and car manufacturers began years ago, with each brand carving out their own signature style and creating a series of star-studded brand name projects that dot the city skyline. Prominently noted is Aston Martin competitor, car-maker Porsche, whose Porsche Design Tower’s extravagant amenities include the ability for residents to drive their vehicles into a car elevator that opens directly into their private residence.  So what will set Aston Martin Residences apart from the rest?  The brand’s message is that of a sophisticated and more subtle approach. “We create beautiful cars for those who appreciate automotive fine art, and we are excited to extend our expertise in design and craftsmanship into a project of this caliber,” said Bassi. The planned project is reported to be a mix of technology, style and understated elegance, a part of the brands distinct style, and will include two private lobbies, a two-story state-of-the-art fitness center with a spa, a 55th floor infinity pool, a screening room, British club, and an exclusive yacht marina, according to a press release .

Architects Revuelta and Bodas Mian Anger will design the 66-story sail-shaped tower which will feature 390 designer residences with panoramic views of Biscayne Bay and the Miami skyline. Directed by Marek Reichman, Aston Martins design team will create interior spaces that include the Aston branding throughout. Bespoke artisan Aston Martin door handles, number pliths, kestral tan leather door tabs, color palettes and the building’s common areas and amenities will exhibit the characteristic Aston Martin craftsmanship in every design. Residences at the tower will comprise of one to four bedroom units, including seven penthouses and a duplex penthouse, all with private pools and spacious terraces. Reichman concluded: “As our first real estate project, we wanted to express the timeless style of Aston Martin through design elements and materials appropriate for an ultra-modern residential building.” The project will be sited at 300 Biscayne Blvd, and is set to break ground next summer and open in 2021.
