The Views and Profile of the Next U.S. President

News reports confirmed on November 8, 2016, that the President-elect of the United States is Republican Nominee, Donald J. Trump. Trump, a businessman, Real Estate developer, former beauty pageant owner, reality TV host (The Apprentice) and according to Forbes, one of the wealthiest persons in the world, will take office as the 45th president on January, 20th 2017 after receiving 276 of the 270 electoral votes required to win the White House. Trump, nicknamed “The Donald,” defeated Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton to clinch most of the battleground states including Florida, Ohio and New Hampshire for the win; marking the first time Republicans gained control over the White House, Senate and House of Representatives (Congress) since 1928.

What’s Next: The Positives for All

In his victory speech Trump promised to fix inner cities, restore America’s safety, put millions to work, get along with all other nations, and double US growth through reduced taxes and a great economic plan, all summed in one big statement: “No dream too big, No challenge too great. Nothing we want for our future is beyond our reach.” Trump also spoke kindly of Clinton, a departure from the political fury spewed during the campaigning, by congratulating her after her concession on a “very hard fought campaign,” stating that “We owe her a major debt of gratitude for her service to our country.” Both President-elect Trump and current President Obama called for unity from all Republicans, Democrats and Independents as the nation moves forward.  Trump pledged to reach across party lines and population divisions, seeking guidance from the public to rebuild the nation, and exploit the untapped potential in America.

Political Affiliations

Trump, at 70 years old, is the oldest person to ever become a first-term president, and has crossed party lines for years before his candidacy as a Republican nominee and now, President. He floated the idea of running for president three times prior in 1988, 2004 and 2012.

Trumps campaign proposed a plan for the first 100 days, called “Donald Trump’s Contract with the American Voter” where the president-elect listed his first actions as he begins his 4-year term at the White House. The economy and terrorism were some of the top issues for voters in this election.

Where he stands on the KEY Issues

• Taxes: Proposes lowering the estate tax, passing a middle class tax-relief and simplification act that offers a 35 percent tax cut. Reducing the number of tax brackets and reducing corporate tax rates from 35 to 15 percent and allow for the repatriation of overseas business profits. 90% of Americans would no longer have to itemize their deductions.
• Economy: Create 25 million jobs over the next decade, End of NAFTA and TPP meaning no Free Trade. Favors reform policies with pro-growth tax plan.
• Immigration: Favors Enforcement of Immigration Laws, Border protection and removal of criminal illegal aliens, strengthening the vetting process for nations with terror groups.
• Foreign Policy: Platform to Make America Safe Again.  End to terrorist groups, Iran nuclear deals, easing of tensions with Russia,
• Guns: Supports the 2nd Amendment Right to Bear Arms but supports fixing the background checks system.
• Infrastructure: Proposes a $1 Trillion infrastructure plan. Proposes to invest in fixing bridges, highways and other projects using American labor and resources.
• Women’s Rights: Pro Life with stipulations that give exceptions to victims of various types of sexual assault. End government funding of abortions.
• Healthcare: Plans to Repeal the Affordable Care Act and end mandates that require health insurance for all. Expand Health Savings Accounts, let Insurance companies sell policies across state lines allowing competition and prescription drugs to be imported from abroad.

Personal Life

Donald J. Trump, born June 14th, 1946 in New York City, New York, is of German and Scottish ancestry. He graduated from alma maters Fordham University and the University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor’s degree in economics. Trump career in real estate occurred when he was given control of his father Fred Trump’s real estate and construction firm which was later renamed The Trump Organization. He is a father of five and has been married three times. He is currently married to former Slovene model Melania Knauss, his third wife. He has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and was a recipient of the Muhammad Ali Entrepreneur Award in 2007.
