Top Development Teams Compete for $10B Miami-Dade Project
December 13, 2024Miami-Dade County is set to redevelop 17 acres in downtown Miami into Metrocenter, a $10 billion mixed-use project featuring offices, residences, cultural spaces, and transit hubs. The transformation will occur around the Stephen P. Clark Government Center, with a formal proposal request (RFP) expected next year.
Three top-tier development teams are competing for the opportunity:
- Related Urban, 13th Floor Investments, and Merrimac Ventures—Known for projects like Liberty Square and Link at Douglas, these companies bring experience in affordable and transit-oriented housing.
- Terra, Atlantic Pacific Companies, and Sterling Bay – Developers behind Grove Central and inclusive housing initiatives in Kendall.
- Florida Value Partners, Cornerstone Group, and John Buck Co. – Specializing in workforce housing and planning a mixed-use tower near the government center.
Metrocenter’s vision includes 6,000–8,500 new residences, office spaces, a cultural arts campus, a wellness center, and the Downtown Intermodal Terminal connecting to public transit. The project may involve demolishing existing county facilities, including the cultural center complex housing the HistoryMiami Museum and the main library.
