Under Construction: Meridian Island Gardens Will Open Super Bowl Weekend With Lady Gaga Concert
December 7, 2019Meridian Island Gardens is coming to Watson Island. The new entertainment venue is planned to open on Super Bowl weekend with a Saturday night concert by Lady Gaga, which should be broadcast on AT&T TV.
The venue will feature 65,000 square feet of space over multiple levels. Jack Murphy’s Consortium Entertainment is building the project; he is responsible for producing many annual Super Bowl parties in host cities.
Construction started last month, and permits filed with Miami’s Building Department state it will cost $1.2 million to build. Taxpayers own the land, but it is leased to a Turkish company called Flagstone, which recently won the right to postpone construction of a complex they had promised to build on the site until 2037.
