Venture Capitalist Chris Burch Lists Miami Beach Waterfront Mansion for $49 Million

August 25, 2023

Christopher Burch has listed his Miami Beach waterfront residence on North Bay Road for a substantial $49 million, as the Wall Street Journal reported. Renowned as a venture capitalist and co-founder of his ex-wife’s famed fashion brand, Tory Burch, he has enlisted the Waterfront Team at One Sotheby’s International Realty, specifically Mirce Curkoski and Albert Justo, to handle the sale.

Burch is the driving force behind Burch Creative Capital, a New York City-based venture firm. With a history that includes co-founding the apparel company Eagle’s Eye alongside his brother, Robert Burch, during his college years, he has since invested in notable brands such as Solid & Striped, Staud, and BaubleBar.

Following a brief marriage to real estate magnate Billy Macklowe in 1993, Christopher Burch tied the knot with Tory Burch in 1996. Together, they launched the eponymous brand in 2004 before parting ways in 2007. Notably, according to Forbes, he sold a significant portion of his stake in the label for $650 million in 2012. The brand, specializing in mid-luxury women’s fashion, generated an impressive $1.8 billion in sales the previous year.

In 2020, Burch acquired the Miami Beach residence from Heinz Brasil executive Salvador Paoletti Neto for $14.2 million. Dating back to 1936, the 0.7-acre estate boasts a remarkable 140 feet of waterfront, incorporating a spacious four-bedroom main house spanning 7,000 square feet, a two-bedroom guest house covering 1,500 square feet, and a luxurious pool area. Over time, Burch significantly enhanced the property through extensive renovations, including expanding the kitchen and adding amenities like a sauna, cold plunge, and hot tub by the poolside.

Burch shared with the Journal that he aims to secure a smaller nearby residence. Notably, he has previously been involved in Miami real estate transactions, having sold a waterfront Pine Tree Drive lot for $10.7 million in 2019, down from its 2017 purchase price of $12 million.

In addition to his Miami endeavors, Burch maintains an apartment in New York City’s 220 Central Park South and owns properties in the Hamptons and near Paris.
